Weather-delay reports for industrial contractors.
StandDown sends lightning alerts and records every weather call on your jobsites: when work stopped, who was on site, and when it resumed. It turns that record into a report you can hand the owner, by day, week, month, or any date range, emailed on a schedule to anyone you choose.

Example entry with made-up names and times.
The delay nobody wrote down
Ten crews on a site, the weather stops work, and a month later nobody can say exactly when it stopped, who was on site, or when it resumed. Those hours are real money, and an unrecorded hour is hard to bill. One undocumented delay can cost more than a full year of StandDown at that site.
The report the owner asks for
When the owner or your PM asks how much weather you actually lost, you send a report with the dates, the hours, and the calls behind them, not a memory and a pile of text messages.
A record kept as it happens
Most weather-delay records are one person's hand-kept notes at the end of the month. StandDown logs each event and each call when it happens, with who made it and at what time, ready to download whenever you need it.
What the owner receives
One Excel file, or an emailed copy, with every site in it: Daily, Summary, Delays, Calls, and Sources & Method. This sample is built from made-up data so you can see the layout.

Green: a record exists for that day. Yellow: nothing to count, such as a day the crew does not work. Gaps are marked, never guessed.

Every column names its source. Rain, high, low and condition come from Xweather's conditions summary for the site's own coordinates, saved nightly and then frozen, so a report run twice gives the same answer. Lightning comes from the monitoring record. Rain-out and other calls come from the jobsite call log. This report is a documented record of the contractor's own calls, not a certified delay determination and not a notice under any contract.
How it works
- Set up each jobsite
Pin it on the map and enter the crew's shift hours, working days, and typical crew size, so hours lost are counted only on the clock, on days the crew works.
- Add the people on the job
Supervisors, foremen, and crew. Anyone you mark can confirm back-to-work. No limit, no per-person charge.
- Weather is logged as it happens
Lightning inside the radius you set opens a weather event and notifies everyone on the job. For rain, wind, and other weather, your supervisor makes the call with one press.
- The report builds itself
When the crew is confirmed back to work, the delay closes with exact times. Download to Excel, or schedule reports daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
It runs on the phones your crew already carries. No sensors to mount and no hardware to buy.
Lightning alerts, built in
StandDown watches lightning detection data around every jobsite, so nobody has to keep up with it by hand.
- Heads-upLightning detected inside your outer radius.
- Stand-downLightning detected inside your inner radius.
- All-clearNo lightning for the time you set.
You set both radii and the all-clear timer for each site. Everyone on the job is notified at the same moment by phone push, email, and text, during the shift hours you set.
Every strike, every stand-down, every all-clear, and every back-to-work confirmation is logged against the site with its time, and flows straight into the weather-delay report. The alert is the tool that captures the event. The report is what you hand the owner.
Lightning alerts are a notification and recordkeeping tool. You decide what each notice means for your crews and when work stops and resumes. See what StandDown is, and is not, below.
Every call is a record
Rained out at 6 AM? One press sends RAIN OUT to everyone on the job at the same moment. Early release and report-to-site work the same way. Each call is logged with who sent it, when, and how many people it reached, so nobody drives forty miles for nothing and nobody can say they were never told.
Before the first storm, press Send test alert and watch every phone on the list light up. Notifications go out three ways at once: phone push, email, and text message. The text reaches the men who never set the app up on their phone.
Calls download separately from lightning events, because a lightning event is what the weather did and a rain out is what a person decided.
What is in every report
Daily, Summary, Delays, Calls, and Sources & Method. Every day of the period for every site, and every column labelled with where it came from.
Counted only on shift hours on working days. Add the crew size and hours become man-hours.
Open delays, back-dated entries, missing crew counts, and delays with no back-to-work confirmation are marked.
Daily rain, high, low and conditions for each site's own coordinates, from Xweather, saved every night and then frozen. It backs up the delay record without anyone keeping it by hand.
To any list of recipients: your PM, the owner's representative, your home office. Recipients are free and unlimited. Every sent report is kept as a frozen copy with a delivery receipt for each recipient.
Many facilities run their own lightning policy: a published radius, a horn, a weather service. Match it, and when the two differ, the difference is captured as a documented exception. Lightning data comes from the Vaisala network through Xweather.
What StandDown is, and is not
StandDown is a recordkeeping and reporting tool. It records the weather calls your people make and the lightning events detected near your sites, and turns them into reports. It is not a safety system, a lightning detection device, or a substitute for your own safety procedures, on-site observation, or a supervisor's judgment. You decide when to stop and when to resume work, and your people remain responsible for the safety of personnel in the field.
Rain and wind calls are what your supervisor observed and logged. The daily rain, temperature and condition columns come from Xweather's gridded conditions summary for each site's coordinates; they back up the record and are not a jobsite rain gauge. Reports are documented records of your own calls and the data available. They are not a certified delay determination, they do not guarantee that any claim will be accepted, and they are not a notice under any contract. Your contract's own notice requirements still govern. Read the Terms of Service for the full terms.
